Is patient and helpful. They know I understand that Computer Science can feel abstract at times, and it’s easy to get frustrated. I guide them with patience and work through the problem alongside them so they can arrive at the answer themselves, rather than just being given the solution.
Student-centered. I try to assess what the student's learning style is- are they more of a visual learner, auditory, kinesthetic or mix of all and then tailor my style to fit the student's academic needs. While teaching them the technical skills, I also provide the students with tips and tricks for general studying skills that I have implemented as a student
I was a very anxious student growing up. I used to worry a lot and I was scared to make mistakes. I put too much pressure on myself. The advice I would give myself is to enjoy the learning process instead of being anxious. Anxiety inhibits the learning process.
had never used a computer before starting my Bachelor’s in Computer Science. In my first year of university, I was learning how to operate a computer at the same time as learning Computer Science. It was incredibly challenging—but if I could do it, anyone can.
