Neither is easier overall. IRCC accepts both for immigration, both convert to CLB/NCLC levels, and both results are valid for two years. The right choice depends on your strengths. For example, the TEF speaking section is scored by examiners at the test centre, so some people prefer it and others don't. A tutor can give you a practice test and help you pick.

For tests taken after December 10, 2023, IRCC's NCLC 7 ranges are 434 to 461 in reading and listening, 428 to 471 in writing, and 456 to 493 in speaking. For Express Entry, IRCC says to use the "Équivalence ancien score" column on your results, not the score out of 699.

It tests four skills: listening (40 min), reading (60 min), writing (60 min) and speaking (15 min). Results arrive by email about 15 days after the test.

It depends on the test centre. McGill charges $145 each for listening and speaking and $73 each for reading and writing, which is $436 for all four.

Your tutor starts by finding out where you are and the CLB score you need. Lessons then focus on your weakest sections, with timed practice and feedback on your writing and speaking. Each tutor sets their own hourly rate, shown on their profile.

Here's how our cancellation policy works:

• 24 Hours or more in advance: If you cancel your session at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time, you will receive a full refund, no questions asked.

• Less than 24 Hours: If you find yourself needing to cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, please be aware that failing to show up or canceling within this time frame will result in a full charge for the appointment. However, we do handle these situations on a case-by-case basis. While we can't guarantee a refund, we will do our best to find a solution that is fair for both you and the tutor.
