Matthew is a math enthusiast and statistician for the Government of Canada, with a Master’s in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo. He thrives on helping students unlock complex math concepts through adaptable and personalized teaching methods. Matthew finds joy in seeing students connect the dots and become independent learners. His love for statistics, once his least favorite subject, now fuels his passion for teaching, proving that there's always a new way to learn and grow.
Really enjoys math. I have a tendency to get really into the topics we are learning, and I can't help but to introduce interesting side topics and other cool math tidbits.
Flexible; I tailor my approach differently based on each student's needs. Things such as future courses, current performance, and upcoming tests will all effect my approach. I will also adjust to best suit the student as I get to know them better.
Enjoy learning. Having the time to learn and be curious is a gift. And (unrelated) that neoprene socks are much better than wool socks on canoe trips...
Previously worked as a canoe guide. Specifically guiding extended river trips in Quebec and Ontario.
