McMaster uses a 12-point scale (A+ = 12 … F = 0). Your GPA is the credit-weighted average of those points across all courses attempted. The Registrar lists the official 12-point mapping and percentage ranges.
You’ll look at a term/semester GPA (one term) and a cumulative GPA (cGPA) across your McMaster coursework. Note: McMaster’s official transcript does not display a cumulative GPA (the transcript legend explains the scale); use term summaries or your own calculation for cGPA.
In Mosaic → Student Centre, check Academics → Grades for term results, or view/download your Unofficial Transcript to see all final grades in one place (official record). Some summaries show cumulative totals; otherwise calculate using the 12-point table below.
Use this when entering grades into your calculator (letter → % → 12-point). Official mapping from the Registrar:
Standing rules are faculty-specific, but your cGPA is the key driver. Examples: many Honours B.Sc. programs require cGPA ≥ 5.0 to continue/graduate; Engineering materials commonly reference cGPA ≥ 4.0 to remain in the program (university continuation minima may differ). Always confirm your program’s calendar/advising pages.
