SFU calculates GPA on a 4.33 scale: each letter grade (A+…F) maps to a numerical equivalent (e.g., A+ = 4.33, A = 4.00, A- = 3.67). Your GPA is the credit-weighted average of those grade points across your courses. This mapping is defined in SFU’s official grading policy.
You’ll commonly see a Term GPA (one term only) and a Cumulative GPA (CGPA) (all SFU coursework). SFU provides an online GPA Calculator to estimate scenarios (e.g., “what GPA do I need to reach target CGPA?”), but it doesn’t handle repeats—see an advisor for repeat-course recalcs.
Log into goSFU → Student Center. Under Academics, choose “other academic…” → Transcript: Unofficial (or Advising Transcript) to view your GPA; you can also order Official Transcripts via Student Services. The transcript is your official record.
SFU defines letter → numerical equivalents university-wide (percent ranges are not standardized across SFU; some schools publish their own guidance). Use the table below for GPA math in your calculator.
After you’ve attempted 9 units, SFU evaluates standing each term. Generally, Good Academic Standing requires CGPA ≥ 2.00; if your Term GPA < 2.00and your CGPA < 2.00 while on probation, you can be Required to Withdraw (RTW). Check the advising page for details and recovery steps.
