Toronto Metropolitan University calculates grade point averages on a 4.33 scale. Each course grade converts to earned grade points, from A+ at 4.33 down to F at 0.00, and your GPA is the weighted average of those points. TMU rounds to two decimal places using normal rounding, so 2.879 becomes 2.88 and 2.874 becomes 2.87.

What is the difference between TGPA and CGPA at TMU?

Your Term Grade Point Average covers the courses graded in a single term. Your Cumulative Grade Point Average covers all final grades earned while registered in your program, and it's the figure TMU uses for academic standing, honours and other distinctions. Both use the same formula: add up each course's weight multiplied by its grade points, then divide by the total weight. Single-term courses normally carry a weight of 1.00 and multi-term courses 2.00.

What GPA do I need to stay in good standing at TMU?

A CGPA of 1.67 or higher earns Clear standing, which means you continue in your program. Between 1.00 and 1.66 you are assigned Probationary standing and must establish a Probationary Contract with your department to keep studying. Below 1.00 the standing is Required to Withdraw, a twelve-month suspension from the program, though students in their first term at TMU are not assigned RTW and continue on probation instead. Several programs, including most of Engineering and Architectural Science, Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, add their own standing variations on top.

How do I check my GPA at TMU?

Your official TGPA and CGPA live in MyServiceHub at my.torontomu.ca. Sign in, open the Student Center, and under Academics select the Grades/Standing quick link. Grades and academic standings are posted at the end of each term, roughly ten days after the examination period ends; for the Fall term they normally appear within a week of the university reopening after the mid-year break. That record is the official one. This calculator gives you an estimate before grades are released, or lets you test what a given term would do to your cumulative average.
