Queen’s uses a 4.3 GPA scale. Each letter grade maps to grade points (A+ = 4.3, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7 … F = 0.0). Your GPA is the credit-weighted average of those points. Note: since Jan 7, 2014, a cumulative GPA no longer appears on the official transcript (the legend explains the scale).
You’ll commonly look at term/session GPA for a given term and cumulative GPA (CGPA) for overall progress (used in standing decisions by faculties). Arts & Science, for example, evaluates academic progression against CGPA thresholds each year.
Log into SOLUS Student Centre → Academic Records.
Use this when entering grades into your calculator. (This is the official mapping across Arts & Science, Smith Engineering/Business, Graduate Studies, and Health Sciences.)
Faculties use your CGPA to assess standing. In Arts & Science, students are expected to maintain CGPA ≥ 1.60 for good academic standing; those below progression standards may receive an academic sanction (e.g., probation). Always check your division’s regulations.
